Changes To Small Group Meetings Covid 19
An Update Letter on Covid-19 to our GracePoint Church Community
I said on Sunday we’re still God’s people meeting in different places gathering together under God’s word to carry out God’s mission. Who we are as God’s people at GracePoint will not change, but how we’ll meet to encourage each other and worship together will change for a little while. We’ll continue meeting together for worship and fellowship, but in a different way for a little while.
23Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. 24And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another —and all the more as you see the Day approaching. (Hebrews 10:23-25)
Remember that we are not a people without hope or without God, and we are certainly not a people without a community! So let me assure you that at this time your pastors, elders and small group leaders (CG, ACG, Extreme) are working out ways to keep us ‘meeting’ together in the weeks and the months ahead.
As you’re aware our pastors and elders have been constantly assessing government announcements regarding Covid-19. We’ve just met for an online meeting last night and in light of what’s happening with COVID-19, the elders and pastors at GracePoint have decided to mandate the following from this week onwards for the good of our church family and the wider community. We have decided that:
- there should be no physical gatherings in small groups for our livestream Sunday worship
- there should be no physical gatherings for community group or prayer groups, ACG and Extreme
- there should be no physical gatherings for any leaders meetings
We are also strongly recommending the same for all 1-1 meet ups going forward.
We want to encourage you to use alternative ways to keep caring for each other, staying connected, and meeting around the God’s word and prayer. It’ll be even more important in the weeks to come. So we want to help you prepare. As I’ve said to you, we want to make sure no one gets left behind, and that no one is alone in the weeks and possible months to come. So we’ll need to use alternative ways to do what we were previously doing - using various online means to build community and continue face to face relationships. Our leaders will be meeting online this Tuesday night to look at how we can be working in this space to help each other do this.
